Downward Elevator Prototype 1

Running into weight/balance/friction issues here:
1. The marble isn't heavy enough to push the elevator downward.
2. The elevator doesn't reset itself as expected.

2 comments:

  1. You could try to just use a basket hanging from a pulley and get rid of the whole elevator housing to reduce friction.

The marble could get dumped out of the basket when it hits a peg or something... That way you leave the decision of where the marble(s) leave the elevator to the visitor.

We just talked about the importance to have "open-ended" elements that visitors can integrate in their construction and complete in different ways. Perhaps the elevator has potential for that.

  2. Are you thinking about including a slow moving motor to raise the marble? It's an interesting way to make it go down; but it's easy to make things go do. More difficult to lift marbles up.
